ฟูก๊วกเวียดนาม เกาะชายขอบอ่าวไทย ทำความรู้จัก "ฟูก๊วก" เกาะที่ใหญ่ที่สุดของเวียดนาม ตั้งอยู่กลางทะเลอ่าวไทยที่กำลังเปลี่ยนผ่านอย่างรวดเร็ว ตั้งแต่ยุคล่าอาณานิคมฝรั่งเศส สู่ชุมชนประมงอันเงียบสงบ และกำลังก้าวเป็นเมืองท่องเที่ยวระดับภูมิภาคที่เต็มไปด้วยรีสอร์ตหรู เมืองจำลองสไตล์ยุโรป และโครงสร้างพื้นฐานทันสมัย ด้วยการสนับสนุนจากรัฐบาลเวียดนามที่มีเป้าหมายผลักดันให้ฟูก๊วกกลายเป็นหนึ่งในเกาะยอดนิยมที่สุดของเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ การพัฒนาเชิงเศรษฐกิจในช่วงทษวรรษที่ผ่านมา ได้นำมาทั้งโอกาสและความท้าทาย ฟูก๊วกในวันนี้กลายเป็นเวทีของการเปลี่ยนผ่านระหว่างความเจริญเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจกับการรักษาอัตลักษณ์ของชุมชนท้องถิ่น แต่ในขณะเดียวกันก็ต้องเผชิญกับคำถามสำคัญที่ว่าวิถีชีวิตดั้งเดิมจะดำรงอยู่ได้อย่างไรท่ามกลางแรงกดดันของการพัฒนาอย่างรวดเร็ว ฟูก๊วกจึงไม่ใช่เพียงจุดหมายปลายทางของนักท่องเที่ยว แต่ยังเป็นพื้นที่ระหว่างการเติบโตและความยั่งยืนที่ทั้งภูมิภาคกำลังเฝ้าจับตามอง PHÚ QUỐC, VIETNAM: AN ISLAND ON THE EDGE OF THE GULF OF THAILAND Phú Quốc, which is the largest island in Vietnam and situated in the Gulf of Thailand, has become “a fast-changing city”. From the French colonial era to a peaceful fishing community, Phú Quốc is now a “regional tourism destination” that is full of luxury resorts, European-style model cities, and modern structural foundations, with support from the Vietnamese government. The goal is to turn Phú Quốc into one of the most popular islands in Southeast Asia. Economic development over the past decade has brought “opportunities and challenges”. Phú Quốc has now become a setting-stage for transitions between economic growth and the preservation of folk communities. All the while, the city must face important questions concerning the maintenance of traditional ways of life amidst pressure “to develop…at a fast pace”.
